St Hugh’s in the running again for top Town and Gown team

St Hugh’s College fielded its largest ever team in Oxford’s Town and Gown race recently. The 10K run, organised in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK, is now in its 36th year, and attracted some 5,000 participants throughout the city. Well over 90 of these were from the St Hugh’s team, which comprised College students, Fellows, staff, friends and family, and even a brave running dinosaur. We were very narrowly pipped at the post for the coveted Largest Team Title, which was won by Oriel for the third year running.

Muscular Dystrophy UK works for the 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. So far the Town and Gown 10k series, which takes place each year in Oxford, Cambridge and Leicester, has raised over £2 million. Between them, this year’s St Hugh’s team added close to £2,500 to that amount. Next year, we hope to top 100 runners.
